NoiseField01 Lava Lamp

Perlin Noise has been my latest fascination, and from what I’ve been able to dig up, it seems that everyone that has been or is into processing has been through their own Perlin Noise craze. Its great, random organic motion. The applications are endless.

So I dug up this source code from one of Robert Hodgin’s old ones. The particles move through a perlin noise field, their velocity and direction determined by the flow lines which you can see when you press the space bar. I’ve tweaked it so the particles are contained in a circular area on the screen. This was done by superimposing another flow field, pointing into the center of the screen and blending the two.

Check out the final result here.
